adoption at it's finest

so i never really was sure about some of those silly presents, like buying and naming a star. what are you supposed to do with that? can't put it on the mantle now can you!

you can adopt an olive tree in italy. a little certificate comes your way and a little book telling you all about your new family member. then twice a year, along comes some produce that your little tree has worked so hard to make. cool hey!

you are also welcome to visit your tree and hugging is even encouraged. i love it!

so anyone wishing to give me a present sometime, i think i really need a tree of my own.

the pisces gene

i have been so busy of late. juggling different jobs, working out how to live with a student who is renting one of my rooms. i just havent had enough time to blog, but the gentle prodding of a certain person has woken me up slightly.

i have managed to make time for certain things though. you see i am sure that i have this gene that makes me obsessive. i get focused on something and i cannot let it go. it can be an addiction of sorts. although hopefully not a really bad kind!

i am sure that it comes from being a pisces. most astrology explanations suggest that addiction is a major trait of this sign. apparently cream isn't good for us either!

here is my current addiction.



when i log in, i must read everything. (well at least click on each link so it registers that i have looked at the new posts.) i am too embarrassed to show you the real number that was waiting for me this morning. by the time i took this screenshot, i had already put in a pretty good reading effort! i am sure i am not the only one with this problem.

i feel so much better when i get to this screen.



my day feels complete!

like watching a train wreck

i just can't look away. what if i miss something? what if i don't ever find out what happens in the end? that is not an option.

it doesn't matter what gets in the way. work, schmork. i just can't stop reading i said!!

hope dies last...

oh and this is some inspiration for a possible winter project.

lovely and simple. my sister has refused to make me a quilt, so i guess i need to make something myself - bah! my granny would be proud if i could crochet like this. maybe...

the weekend

the lawn has been mowed.
the chores have been done.
the breakfast has been eaten.
the eggs have been bought and wrapped.
the chickens have been photographed.
it's now time to relax.

small glimpses into strangers' lives

courtesy of a technological glitch...

leila sales gets lots of text messages from strangers on her mobile phone. she got a new cell from an american network called verizon and just started getting messages. she thought the phone had been programmed wrong — that it was accidentally linked to someone else’s number — but apparently not.



the texts kept arriving from all over the states. leila realised that they were not directed to one other random person, but that she was getting every text meant for a leila on the verizon network — so long as the sender used the keypad to type in her name, instead of calling it up from the address book (which sounds a bit technical compared to australian networks!)

she gets at least one unintended text a day and records them here. the leila texts. cool!

sometimes...

i think that it would be nice to hide.
